ARE YOU A SCAREDY CAT WHEN IT COMES TO DOING ART?
Did you do some art at one stage in your life and really loved it, but have never done any art since because you are scared?
Did someone say something mean about your art that made you sad, as well as scared? Something like, “You can’t even draw a stick figure”?
Are you scared because you think you have no talent: that you aren’t creative?
Does the thought of joining an art group scare you because you think everyone else will be much better than you and you’ll feel embarrassed and demoralised?
Are you a beginner who is scared because you don’t know what to do, where to start, and what to buy?
Do you already do some art, but only the same old thing: are you stuck in a boring rut, rather than exploring something new and exciting, because you are too scared to venture out of your comfort zone?
Are you disappointed that there are only weekday art groups and none on the weekend?
Well, this is the right group for you!

A Message from the Organiser:
Please don’t be held back from doing art by being a ‘scaredy cat’! Art is something that will bring you so much pleasure: it is joyful and meaningful. It has been described as ‘chocolate for the brain’ and doing art strongly promotes an active engagement with life in positive, healthy, and fulfilling ways.
I do not claim to be an ‘expert’ in any shape or form. I am simply a person who loves playing around with art in good company and I am passionate in my belief that art is for everyone and that everyone can do art.
While I think that a formal approach to learning art has its place, I feel it can often seriously cramp creativity. That’s why ‘Art for Scaredy Cats’ will have a happy and relaxed ‘learn by doing’ format. Enjoyable activities will inspire and encourage people to explore a wide range of mediums, techniques and approaches in a non-scary, sociable and supportive atmosphere, where friendship and laughter will be essential ingredients.
I hope you’ll come along soon. Don’t be scared: join today!”
